S.T.A.R.
S.T.A.R. group is our social group for existing clientele who could benefit from additional Social Time And Respite to cultivate additional life skills, play skills and early interactions with peers in a controlled and fun environment that is tailored to their specific sensory, motor and communicative needs. Each event is carefully developed with a skill set in mind and then executed to provide a fun and low-stress experience for those children who otherwise do not succeed in common childhood activities (birthday parties, play dates, reading groups, sports). We use STAR group time to facilitate life skills, play skills, social skills and fun into you and your child's life in an adaptive way that works for you!
Upcoming Events...
MOCK party....Your child will participate in a MOCK party in which he/she will be provided with a cupcake, gift to unwrap, and visual schedule of events that will occur during the play date which will include icing the cake, and blowing out the candle, singing happy birthday and opening a gift. Each child will take a turn being the MOCK birthday child as we practice turn-taking, waiting our turn, practicing functional lip rounding/blowing, fine motor manipulation of unwrapping gift, social expectation of yours/mine and then practicing sequencing of events during our MOCK party. Parents will remain in the building for this STAR event. Date TBD.
